Eaton, global power management company, weekend, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with provider of electrical and electronic equipment in Nigeria, Somotex Limited as it looks to catalyse sustainable growth in the power sector in line with Jonathan administrations transformation agenda.

The agreement will see Somotex, as part of Eaton’s strategic partners’ network, warehousing and distributing the company’s leading products to retailers across Nigeria’s power sector. Eaton, which specialises in helping customers manage electrical, hydraulic and mechanical power more reliably, efficiently, safely and sustainably, employs over 103,000 people worldwide and serves customers in 175 countries. The firm recently launched in Nigeria to serve the needs of Eaton’s customers in the country and in West Africa.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Charles Iyo, regional sales manager, West Africa for Eaton, said the company will continue to build a more energy efficient West Africa through an ever expanding group of distributors and partners. “The partnership with Somotex will enable Eaton provide advanced power management technologies for businesses to do more with less energy in an increasingly resource constrained nation,” said Iyo. “Eaton is therefore delighted that this signing ceremony will further bring Eaton closer to its Nigerian customers.” Also speaking at the ceremony in Lagos, weekend, Anil Mohinani, managing director at Somotex Nigeria Limited, said “As a frontline provider of electrical equipment in Nigeria, Somotex is pleased to partner with one of the world’s respected energy management companies.

“This partnership will no doubt catalyse sustainable growth in the power sector in line with Nigeria’s government transformation agenda”, he added.

As Eaton continues to explore avenues to serve the needs of its customers and build business relationships across the various sectors of the Nigerian economy, the company will host industry players and customers at an Eaton Tech Day event slated for February 2015 at the Eko Hotel, Lagos. According to Iyo, Tech Day is a platform to showcase Eaton’s solutions in key segments to industry leaders in Africa’s biggest market.

The event is expected to attract policy and decision makers, partners, customers and stakeholders in the oil and gas, financial services, building construction, power management industry from Nigeria and the broader West African region. Eaton is a power management company with 2013 sales of $22.0 billion.
