Taraba Assembly holds last session, set 3rd June for inauguration
The House of Assembly on Thursday held its last session which followed the dissolution of the 8th Assembly that was constituted in 2015 and announced June 3rd, 2019 as date for the inauguration of the 9th Assembly.
The dissolution of the House followed a letter of proclamation from the State Governor, Darius Ishaku dissolving the House which was read by the Speaker, Abel Diah and adopted by members during the valedictory sitting.
Addressing members during the sitting, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abel Diah thanked members for their hard work and commitment to the legislative business which he said engendered a good working relationship with other arms of government in the state.
“I can proudly say that our legislation in the past four years have benefitted the good people of Taraba.
“I must also commend the House for working hard to take Taraba State to the higher level.
“For those who are not returning, I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavours and for those returning, we must brace up for the challenge ahead.”
The Speaker also took time to remember late Hon. Hosea Ibi representing Takum 1, who was kidnapped in December 2017 and was subsequently killed by his abductor in January of 2018 as well as former member representing Ardo Kola constituency, Emmanuel Dame who also died in the 8th Assembly.
Members during the valedictory sitting took turns to eulogise the deceased and recounted their experiences in the House in the past four years.
