As preparations for the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Bayelsa State on December 5, 2015 gather momentum, there is growing support for incumbent, Governor Seriake Dickson.
The latest support is coming from a former member of the House of Representatives, Graham Ipigansi who said Dickson had distinguished himself by the level of development of infrastructure in the state.
Earlier, a former ambassador and statesman, Lawrence Ekpebu had urged support for the governor based on his track record of performance in working assiduously for the development of the state.
Ipigansi, who fielded questions from newsmen in Yenagoa recently, condemned the spate of defections in the state, describing the development as unnecessary and an indication of selfish and pecuniary interests by those involved.
He therefore, urged Bayelsans to be extremely cautious, wise and practical in their choice of personality for the state’s top position, saying the people should not be distracted by such politicians.
Ipigansi stressed that “Bayelsans must make the clear choice between those who mean well for the state and those who are pursuing their personal objectives and against the overall well being and growth of the state.”
The former representative of Ogbia Federal Constituency between 1999 and 2003 said Dickson had worked like no other governor in the history of Bayelsa State and deserves a second tenure.
According to him, Dickson is the most patriotic, focused, transparent and result oriented leader of the state as his policies, programmes and projects that are spread across the nooks and crannies of the state show.
He stated that only those who have never meant well for the state would find fault in Dickson’s style of governance which has impacted positively on all sectors of the local economy which is undergoing a massive turnaround.
Ipigansi pledged total support for Dickson’s re-election project and called on well meaning and right thinking Bayelsans to rally round the governor so that he can continue with his restoration agenda for the state.
