We live in the age of together where people enjoy sharing an experience rather than taking it all in alone. When there is a physical space to meet, laugh, discuss, and celebrate talent, a deeper connection is felt than doing all of the above over social media.
Gbayi Child Entertainment, the producers of Taruwa gathers people together every last Tuesday of the month at Bogobiri House, Ikoyi, to be delighted by comedy, banter, theatre, performance, poetry, and spoken word. In the course of the evening, attendees are able to connect, create, and share creative moments carved away from rowdy Lagos.
Recently, BusinessDay was at Taruwa’s 9th anniversary event where headline act Adekunle Gold serenaded the crowd. Amidst hilarious punch lines, there were conversations sparked from losing our humanity when commenting on blogs and social media. Poetry and spoken word added depth to the event and we caught up with filmmakers and playwrights promoting their upcoming productions.
With almost a decade of creating a forum for lovers of arts from both corporate and creative fields, Taruwa is one of Lagos’ favourite off-duty events.
Take time off this Tuesday evening and experience Taruwa yourself. Poets Wana Udobang and Efe Paul Azino will be performing and you don’t want to miss out.
