Watching two young guards standing astride the entrance as they step forward in unison with broad smiles to welcome you, your mind will quickly run through the leisure that further awaits you.

Besides carrying your luggage, they compliment the warmth with “Welcome Sir/Madam, and have fun…” as they point you to the logo of Movenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra. The door opens to a large reception lobby decorated with best of artworks from indigenous artists; you cannot ignore the breathtaking lighting effect of the chandelier, the best of sofas and furniture that make the entire expanse choking with lots to sightsee.

Truly, exclusive luxury, unique unwinding, excitement and whatever you want speak from the entrance foyer of this Accra’s foremost five-star hotel.

For one year and running, the luxurious 260-room Swiss-branded hotel standing tall on Independence Avenue in Accra has changed both the landscape of the Ghanaian capital and the way hospitality business is done in the country.

No matter the event or number of delegates, Movenpick has enough capacity to host you in its 260 rooms, which include 61 Executive Club rooms with their own dedicated 24 hour Club Lounge, 15 Junior Suites with balconies overlooking the swimming pool and 16 acres of landscaped gardens, an expansive 350 square metre Presidential Suite, among others.

The passionately Swiss upscale hotel brand group, according to the hotel management, has, for over one year of its berthing in Ghana, not just offered customers in the country and the West African region something different but also exceeded their expectations.

The excited general manager says since opening the hotel doors to the public last year, there have been more than enough facilities to thrill guests on a visit, especially the 16 acres of landscaped gardens. It is all-day fun at the world-class 75 metres swimming pool (the biggest in Ghana), two floodlit outdoor tennis courts, jogging track and a health and fitness centre offering cardio and weight training, sauna, spa and treatment rooms, among others.

For the past one year, the hotel’s 750 metre square sub-divisible ballrooms have hosted the best of event in the country, while its five meeting rooms, all equipped with the latest audiovisual equipment, have become a reference point for corporate meetings.

Already, business activities are booming at the adjoining commercial centre, which includes 2,000 square metres of retail space that accommodates 26 leading brand name retail shops, and 8,000 square metres of office space, supported by 365 above ground car parking bays.

The unique offering enables it to truly become a multiuse with a balance between leisure and business facilities offerings.

“Business has been good. Even at opening, we started with a full blast of between 70-80 percent occupancy. It is a testimony to the acceptance of our offerings and brand equity in Ghana, West Africa and the continent at large,” an executive of the hotel notes.

However, the experience while in the hotel will not be complete until a taste of the specialties from the kitchen.  A team of culinary experts led by the hotel’s executive chef is never tired of cooking. No matter the palate,   its perfect blend of continental food with African flavor offers something to every guest in the main restaurant, terrace, or even in the rooms.

One man that is most excited is Andrew Asare-Boafo, a sales executive with the hotel. His excitement stems from the fact that the hotel engages over 320 Ghanaians, which is a boost to the 14,000 global workforce of the Movenpick Hotel Group worldwide.

Of course, there are over 1,500 pieces of artworks sourced from local artists with a view to encouraging creativity and impacting on the economy of the host community. At the reception, lobbies, restaurants, bars, lounges, and even in the lift, these artworks keep guests alive with African heritage.

What are you waiting for to explore Movenpick as it gets stronger in service delivery and facility offering? Think of breakfast, lunch or dinner at this latest Swiss offering as Accra is just 45 minutes away from you.
