Stakeholders in the Ekiti State health sector have resolved to re-engineer and refocus their commitment towards reducing the rate of mortality in the state.
The resolution came after a three-day retreat tagged “Designing the Roadmap to Better Health Outcomes in Ekiti Stateâ€, organised for stakeholders across the Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary Health Care Institutions in the sixteen local government areas.
Oyebanji Filani, the state commissioner for Health and a medical doctor who noted that the outbreak of Covid-19 was a wakeup call to nations to prioritize the health sector said that Ekiti State has always been prepared to save the lives of her citizens, hence the call on residents to always support government at ensuring the provision of good health care services.
Folakemi Olomojobi, permanent secretary, Ministry of Health, explained that the retreat was to assess the performance of the state in the past years and make enhanced strategic plans for the future.

She said the administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi was bent on providing quality facilities and service delivery.
The State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning Femi Ajayi and his counterpart from Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, Akin Oyebode who emphasised that the state is making a comprehensive Budget for the Health Ministry gave kudos to health personnel in the state for aligning with the development agenda of the current administration.
Participants at the retreat including Kayode Olabanji, EKSUTH Chief Medical Director, Sola Igotun and Gilbert Seluwa said they have been better equipped on how to tackle the challenges confronting the health sector in the state.
