Victor Osimhen skips Napoli training with sick note amid Galatasaray move

Nigerian international Victor Osimhen has reportedly submitted a medical certificate to Napoli, excusing himself from the first day of pre-season training, as he pushes for a move to Galatasaray ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

According to reports from Fabrizio Romano, Osimhen informed the club that he would not be reporting for pre-season duties under new manager Antonio Conte nor undergo medical testing, making clear his desire to never wear the Napoli badge again.

Despite the transfer not yet being officially finalised, Osimhen remains a Napoli player, and his absence from Monday’s training marks a significant escalation in his efforts to force through a move to the Turkish champions.

The 26-year-old striker is said to be frustrated with the slow pace of negotiations between Napoli and Galatasaray. Talks are ongoing, with the two clubs reportedly at odds over the payment structure of the transfer.

While Galatasaray are willing to meet the €75 million release clause in Osimhen’s contract, Napoli are demanding €55 million upfront and the remaining €20 million in instalments, a proposal the Turkish club has yet to match. Galatasaray’s latest offer is believed to be €40 million upfront, with €35 million to follow in instalments.

With the new season approaching, both clubs are under pressure to reach an agreement, as Osimhen looks to secure a fresh start after five seasons in Italy.
