Van Gaal gets £5m handshake from Man United

Louis Van Gaal, the Manchester United manager will leave with a more than four million pounds handshake plus another half a million pounds for winning the FA.The Dutchman was fired earlier today according to British media reports.

He left Carrington, the United training ground around 5pm waving to waiting photographers and it was thought that was his last time there as a manager.

United will earn a bonus of four million pounds from sponsors Adidas for lifting the FA, the only trophy won by the red devils since departure of long time manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
Van Gaal, 64, leaves after two years of a three-year contract and it is believed he will be replaced by former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho

The former Netherlands boss is believed to earn around £6.4m a year.

Mourinho’s appointment is expected to be confirmed after the 53-year-old Portuguese meets senior United officials on Tuesday.

The club were expected to confirm Van Gaal’s departure on Monday, having spoken to the Dutchman, but as of 17:00 BST there was no official announcement.
United have made an offer to Ryan Giggs, Van Gaal’s assistant, for him to stay at Old Trafford, but it is not known what role he would have and whether he would accept.
