Tottenham Hotspur has reportedly opened discussions with Manchester City over a potential deal for Brazilian winger Savinho. The two clubs are in early negotiations, with a transfer fee of around £43 million being discussed.
Talks between the two Champions League clubs have taken place in recent days, though sources indicate the deal is still at an early stage. Manchester City, however, are reluctant to sell the 21-year-old and are understood to value him at more than £50m.
City signed Savinho from French club Troyes for £30.8m just last year, and the Brazilian went on to make 48 appearances under Pep Guardiola last season, scoring three goals.
However, the recent arrival of French winger Rayan Cherki from Lyon in a £30m deal could limit his opportunities at the Etihad.
Tottenham boss Thomas Frank is pushing to strengthen his forward line following the departure of captain Son Heung-min to MLS side LAFC last week. Spurs have already brought in Mohammed Kudus from West Ham for £55m, but missed out on Nottingham Forest playmaker Morgan Gibbs-White in a £60m bid.
Spurs’ search for attacking reinforcements has become more urgent after James Maddison was ruled out for most of the season with an ACL injury sustained during a pre-season friendly against Newcastle United in Seoul.
