Stanley Nwabali on Raja Casablanca radar

Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca have set their sights on Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, with a potential move in the works ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Nwabali, currently on the books of South African side Chippa United, has grown in stature over the past year, particularly after his standout performances at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.

The 29-year-old kept four clean sheets in seven matches, playing a pivotal role in Nigeria’s run to the final and earning widespread recognition as one of Africa’s top shot-stoppers.

The former Enyimba goalkeeper also made 26 appearances for Chippa United across all competitions last season. Despite speculation of a move last summer, Nwabali opted to sign a new three-year deal with the South African outfit and was handed the club captaincy.

However, interest from Raja Casablanca could tempt the Nigerian to make a move north. The Moroccan powerhouse, led by Lassaad Jarda Chabbi, are reportedly keen to rebuild their squad following a disappointing campaign that saw them finish fifth in the Botola Pro League.

With a rich history that includes three CAF Champions League titles, 13 Botola crowns, and nine Moroccan Throne Cups, Raja are seeking experienced talent to bolster their ranks. They currently have Moses Orkuma, another Nigerian, on their roster.

If a deal materialises, Nwabali would be joining one of Africa’s most successful clubs as he looks to take the next step in his career.
