PFL Africa: Juliet Ukah confident ahead of showdown with Ceileigh Niedermayr

Nigerian policewoman and rising MMA star Juliet Ukah is brimming with confidence ahead of her clash with South Africa’s Ceileigh Niedermayr in the Professional Fighters League (PFL) Africa SmartCage showdown on July 19 in Cape Town.

Speaking during their faceoff in Kinshasa, Congo, Ukah expressed her readiness for the bout and believes her strong background in kickboxing will give her a clear edge.

“I think I’m the more experienced fighter and the better striker, so I’m comfortable wherever the fight goes,” Ukah said. “I expect to get the finish, but I don’t mind going to a third round if needed.”

Public faceoff builds hype

The face-off was held during the PFL Africa open workout session, ahead of the launch of the inaugural PFL Africa season. In front of fans and media, Ukah and Niedermayr showcased their skills in a public training session before facing off officially for the first time.

Carrying the Nigerian flag

Ukah, proud to represent Nigeria on the continental stage, is determined to make a statement.
“I’m very happy to be on the first PFL Africa card, and my fight with Ceileigh is going to be an exciting one,” she added.

“We’re representing two of the biggest MMA nations in Africa, and we want to put African women’s MMA on the global map. Ceileigh, let’s bring out the best in each other and show the world how well African women can fight!”

Niedermayr is ready for war

Her opponent, Ceileigh Niedermayr, is also fired up for what will be the first-ever women’s bout in PFL Africa. The South African sees the fight as more than just a contest; it’s a tribute to her martial arts journey.

“It’s truly an honour to be part of this historic event,” she said.

“This fight camp isn’t just about preparing for Juliet; it’s about honouring my journey in martial arts. I respect her as a fighter, but I don’t think she’s ever faced someone like me. I’m expecting a high-level war, and I’m ready for it.”

PFL Cape Town set for explosive debut

The PFL Cape Town event will mark the official kickoff of the 2025 PFL Africa season, featuring first-round matchups in the Heavyweight and Bantamweight divisions.

The card also boasts five must-see PFL Champions Series bouts, headlined by a Middleweight World Championship clash between unbeaten champion Johnny Eblen and challenger Costello van Steenis.
