AC Milan have reportedly cancelled their proposed transfer for Nigerian striker Victor Boniface after medical examinations raised serious concerns over his right knee, according to Football Italia.
The Bayer Leverkusen forward underwent medical tests in Italy over the weekend, but results reportedly revealed lingering issues linked to his injury history.

Boniface, 24, has suffered two anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears on the same knee during his time with Bodo/Glimt, in addition to recurring muscular injuries that sidelined him for large parts of the last two seasons at Leverkusen.
Milan had reached a full agreement with Leverkusen on a €5 million loan deal with a €24 million option to buy. However, after four separate medical checks in Italy, the Rossoneri opted not to complete the transfer.
Sporting director Igli Tare told reporters, “We knew he had problems in the past. His qualities are undeniable, but we must make the right decision for the club regarding his fitness,” as quoted on Football Italia.
The collapse of the deal marks the second time Boniface has seen a potential move fall through because of injury concerns.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed on his X account that the striker has now returned to Germany after 48 hours in Milan, with no green light for the move.
“After medical tests at AC Milan, Victor Boniface returns to Germany, as there’s still no green light to his move,” Romano said on his X account.
“After 48 hours in Milano, Boniface will be back in Leverkusen today waiting for AC Milan’s imminent decision on his medical tests/checks made over the weekend.”
Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes also confirmed to BILD. “If he comes back to Leverkusen, the Milan deal will be over. It’s no big secret.”
The setback leaves Milan still searching for attacking reinforcements, while Boniface will continue with Leverkusen as he regains full fitness.
