Four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka has officially ended her coaching partnership with Patrick Mouratoglou, announcing the split via an Instagram post.
Osaka teamed up with Mouratoglou in September 2024, following her split from former coach Wim Fissette, who is now working with world No. 1 Iga Swiatek.
Despite initial optimism, Osaka struggled to find consistent form during their 10-month collaboration. In her farewell message, Osaka expressed gratitude:
“Thank you, Patrick, for the amazing experience and lessons. Wishing you all the best; you’re one of the coolest people I’ve met, and I’m sure we’ll cross paths again.”
Mouratoglou, who famously coached Serena Williams to 10 Grand Slam titles and most recently worked with Holger Rune from 2022 to 2024, responded with a heartfelt message on Instagram.
“Nothing lasts forever, but what matters is what we’ve built together. After 10 months, we’ve decided to part ways professionally. I’m grateful for the trust and journey, and I’ll always support you, Naomi.”
Osaka, 27, has experienced a mixed 2025 season. She reached the final of the ASB Classic but was forced to retire due to injury, handing the title to Denmark’s Clara Tauson.
She later claimed a WTA 125K title in Saint-Malo by defeating Slovenia’s Kaja Juvan. However, inconsistency plagued her campaign, including a round-of-16 loss to Emma Raducanu at the Citi Open.
Since winning the 2021 Australian Open, Osaka has reached just two finals: the 2022 Miami Open and the 2025 ASB Classic, losing both. Raducanu, the 2021 US Open champion, has also been chasing consistency, having yet to add another title to her resume.
