Martín Zubimendi set for Arsenal medical ahead of £51m transfer

Real Sociedad midfielder Martín Zubimendi is set to undergo a medical ahead of a £51 million move to Arsenal.

Sources have confirmed to BBC Sport that all necessary documents have been signed, with the deal now in its final stages. The transfer is contingent on a successful medical, which the Gunners are currently arranging.

Although the paperwork has been completed, all parties remain calm about the timing of the medical.

However, there is a collective desire to finalise the move swiftly. Once Zubimendi, 26, clears the medical, Arsenal will be ready to officially announce the Spain international as their latest signing.

Arsenal have long admired Zubimendi and have worked for months to secure his signature.

The payment structure for his release clause has already been agreed upon between Arsenal and Sociedad.

In addition to Zubimendi’s imminent arrival, the Gunners are also pursuing a new centre-forward, with RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Sporting’s Viktor Gyökeres among their top targets.

The club is also in ongoing contract talks with several key players, including Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, Gabriel, Leandro Trossard, Thomas Partey, Myles Lewis-Skelly, and Ethan Nwaneri.
