Bryan Mbeumo completes £65m dream move to Manchester United

Manchester United are reportedly preparing to open formal talks with Brentford over the potential signing of Cameroon striker Bryan Mbeumo.

The Red Devils endured a dismal league campaign in front of goal, scoring just 44 times in the Premier League, the fifth-lowest tally across the division.

Big-money forwards Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee managed only four and three league goals, leaving United in urgent need of proven firepower.

United have already secured a deal for Wolves striker Matheus Cunha, who will complete his move to Old Trafford following his international duties with Brazil.

Now, attention has turned to Cameroon international Mbeumo, with the club confident of landing the 25-year-old after receiving signals that Old Trafford is his preferred destination this summer.

Mbeumo enjoyed a standout season with Brentford, scoring 20 Premier League goals and emerging as one of the most dynamic forwards in the league. While he is not a traditional No. 9, his versatility, pace, power, and direct approach make him an ideal fit for Amorim’s fluid and flexible attacking system.

The former Troyes winger, who joined the Bees in 2019, has just one year remaining on his current contract, although Brentford do hold the option to extend it by a further year.

Importantly, there is no release clause in his deal, meaning negotiations between the two clubs will be key to reaching an agreement.

Mbeumo, like United goalkeeper André Onana, has been left out of Cameroon’s squad for their upcoming friendlies against Uganda and Equatorial Guinea — further fuelling speculation about his future.
