Italian coach Arrigo Sacchi backs Ademola Lookman to shine at Inter Milan

Legendary Italian coach Arrigo Sacchi believes Ademola Lookman has the qualities to make a major impact at Inter Milan.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via TMW), the former AC Milan manager praised the Nigerian forward, describing him as “a phenomenal sprinter” and exactly the kind of player Inter need to add dynamism to their attack.

“Lookman can really make the difference for Inter, but only if he integrates perfectly with the group and adapts without delay,” Sacchi stated. “That speed and explosiveness is what [Inter] need to exploit fully.”

Lookman is currently in negotiations over a summer switch to the San Siro, with Atalanta demanding €50 million for the 26-year-old, who scored 20 goals and added 7 assists across 40 appearances last season.

Sacchi also compared the possible attacking trident of Lookman, Lautaro Martínez, and Marcus Thuram to his own legendary Milan side, saying, “Anything is possible, as long as everyone sacrifices for the team. In my Milan, Gullit, Van Basten, Rijkaard, and Donadoni, they all worked for one another.”

He emphasised the importance of tactical clarity from new Inter boss Cristian Chivu, stressing that pressing and collective effort will be key if such an attacking trio is to succeed.

Sacchi called Inter’s transfer activity, potentially swapping out Arnautovic and Taremi for Ademola Lookman and new signing Ange-Yoan Bonny, definitely a step forward.”

Lookman, formerly of Fulham and Leicester, is considered one of the most explosive forwards in Serie A and could soon take his talents to the defending Italian champions.
