Getafe president confirms Chrisantus Uche's sale to Wolves

Getafe president Ángel Torres has confirmed that Nigerian forward Chrisantus Uche is set to leave the club, with a move to Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers imminent.

Torres explained that the sale is a financial necessity for the club, which relies heavily on player sales due to La Liga’s registration rules.

“We have to sell. We are ruining La Liga by continuously selling. I am forced to sell him; I have no other choice,” Torres stated.

“Tomorrow he undergoes the medical, and the deal will be signed with Wolves.”

This sale is critical for Getafe, which was unable to register all of its players for the first league game of the season. The club needs to reduce its spending to comply with La Liga’s financial regulations.

Despite the club’s financial situation, Getafe manager José Bordalás has voiced his frustration over Uche’s impending departure.

“Let’s hope he doesn’t leave. I’m against him leaving; he’s a very important player,” Bordalás said.

“If Uche leaves, we have a very serious problem. I understand the situation, but we can’t be at the mercy of selling a player as important as Uche.”
