Everton have reached an agreement to sign Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in a deal worth around £28 million.

The fee for the 26-year-old includes an initial £24 million payment, with a further £3–4 million in add-ons. Dewsbury-Hall is now set to finalise personal terms and undergo a medical, despite late interest from Fulham.

The midfielder was initially reluctant to leave Stamford Bridge after a season in which he featured in a supporting role as Chelsea lifted the FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Conference League, and secured a return to the Champions League.

However, Chelsea were open to his departure as they seek to recoup the majority of the £30 million they spent to bring him in from Leicester City in 2024, where he had rejoined former manager Enzo Maresca, who also moved to Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Everton are also in talks with Southampton for highly-rated winger Tyler Dibling, 19. However, after having a second bid rejected, the Toffees are considering withdrawing from the deal unless the valuation is lowered.

Speaking at his final press conference during the Premier League Summer Series, Everton manager David Moyes expressed cautious optimism about incoming transfers:

“I think there’ll be deals next week. I think we’re getting much closer, but I felt that four or five weeks ago as well. Obviously, we’re getting near the tickly bits and we’ve got to get some things done.”

Chelsea, fresh from the signing of Dutch defender Jorrel Hato from Ajax on Sunday, are pressing ahead with a series of squad departures.
