Bryan Mbeumo completes £65m dream move to Manchester United

Bryan Mbeumo says he has joined “the club of his dreams” after completing a move to Manchester United from Brentford in a deal worth an initial £65 million.

The 25-year-old winger has signed a five-year contract with an option to extend for a further year, becoming manager Rúben Amorim’s third signing of the summer after forward Matheus Cunha and left-back Diego Leon.

United’s pursuit of the Cameroon international ended one of the longest-running transfer sagas of the window.

Their third offer, £65 million plus £6 million in add-ons, was accepted last week, seven weeks after their opening £55 million bid in early June.

“As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams, the team whose shirt I wore growing up,” said Mbeumo.

“My mentality is to always be better than I was yesterday. I believe I have the character and ambition to reach another level here, learning from Rúben Amorim and playing alongside world-class players.”

Mbeumo arrives after a standout season for Brentford, scoring 20 goals and providing 7 assists in the Premier League, both career highs. Since joining the Bees from Troyes in 2019, he scored 70 goals and registered 51 assists in 242 appearances.

“Bryan’s goals and assists record in the Premier League is exceptional. His consistency has made him one of the most productive players in England over the last three seasons,” said Manchester United director of football Jason Wilcox.
