Aston Villa beat Fulham to claim first Premier League win

Aston Villa recorded their first Premier League win of the 2025/26 season following a 3-1 victory over Fulham at Villa Park on Sunday.

Raul Jimenez’s third-minute header gave the visitors the lead, but his night ended early after he was forced off injured. Despite Fulham’s promising start and appeals for penalties, Villa gradually found their rhythm.

Ollie Watkins ended a nine-game goal drought to level the score, his strike providing the platform for a much-needed win.

Villa then turned the game around early in the second half, with captain John McGinn and substitute Emiliano Buendia netting twice in quick succession to put the contest beyond the Cottagers. Buendia’s goal was his first in a Villa shirt in over a year.

Although Fulham threatened a response, with Ezri Konsa clearing Sasa Lukic’s effort off the line, the visitors faded as Villa grew in confidence.

The result not only secured Unai Emery’s side their first league victory of the campaign but also extended Fulham’s dismal run at Villa Park, where they have now managed just one win in their past 22 attempts.
