The countdown to the biggest FIFA World Cup in history is underway. The 2026 FIFA World Cup, jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will feature a record 48 teams, up from the traditional 32, making it the largest tournament ever staged.
The three host nations, the USA, Mexico, and Canada, were the first to secure automatic qualification when their joint bid was approved.

Here is the updated list of countries that have officially qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup:
AFC (Asia)
Japan – Qualified on March 20, 2025, becoming the first nation to advance through the Asian qualifiers.
Iran – Secured qualification on March 25, 2025.
Uzbekistan – Made history by qualifying for their first-ever World Cup on June 5, 2025.
South Korea – Booked their ticket on June 5, 2025.
Jordan – Will make their World Cup debut after qualifying on June 5, 2025.
Australia – Confirmed their spot on June 10, 2025.
CONMEBOL (South America)
Argentina – The defending champions sealed qualification on March 25, 2025.
Brazil – The five-time champions maintained their perfect qualification record by confirming their place on June 10, 2025, with a 1-0 victory over Paraguay in São Paulo, courtesy of a Vinicius Jr. goal.
Ecuador – Also secured qualification on June 10, 2025.
OFC (Oceania)
New Zealand – Clinched their World Cup ticket as Oceania champions on March 24, 2025.
