2024 CHAN: Super Eagles B face Zanzibar in final warm-up friendly

Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles B will battle hosts Zanzibar on Thursday in the second leg of a two-match friendly series as preparations continue for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), kicking off this weekend.

The Super Eagles B were held to a goalless draw in the first game played on Monday at the Mau Stadium in central Zanzibar, despite dominating possession. The Zanzibar defence remained resolute to deny Nigeria a breakthrough.

Adedayo Olamilekan, Hadi Haruna, Sikiru Alimi, and Harrison Tochukwu stood out for the Nigerian side, while goalkeeper Ozoemena Ani, captain Nduka Junior, and several others also featured in the game.

Thursday’s encounter at the same venue will serve as Nigeria’s final test before their CHAN 2024 opener against defending champions Senegal on Sunday, August 4, at the 15,000-capacity Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.

The Super Eagles B will next face Sudan on Tuesday, August 12, and wrap up their Group D fixtures against Congo on August 19 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

CHAN 2024 will feature 19 teams across four countries, with Group D being the only pool with four teams. Matches will also be played at venues in Nairobi, Kenya, and Kampala, Uganda.
