Dr. Aduro Anthony – Founder/Chairman Aduro Foundation

In a world where words often fall short, Dr. Aduro Anthony stands apart—not as a man of promises, but as a builder of futures. A visionary grounded in service, his impact is not measured by acclaim, but by the lives transformed across Ondo State and beyond. At the heart of his mission lies the Aduro Foundation—a catalyst for change, dedicated to uplifting underserved communities through bold, people-first solutions. From clean water to digital access, healthcare to education, the Foundation doesn’t just respond to needs—it designs pathways for lasting progress.

From Vision to Impact: The Birth of the Aduro Foundation

Long before the Aduro Foundation was officially born, its spirit lived in Dr. Anthony’s deep connection to the grassroots. As a medical expert and humanitarian, he had walked the paths of villages with no clean water, visited schools with no science labs, and stood beside military and

police personnel working in harsh, unsupported conditions. He saw clearly: transformation must begin where the need is greatest.
Thus, the Aduro Foundation emerged—not as charity, but as strategy. A vehicle driven by four key pillars: healthcare, education, security, and digital innovation. At its core is a powerful belief: when communities are equipped with the right tools, they don’t just survive—they flourish.
Guided by this mission, the Foundation’s growth has been further shaped by the tireless leadership of Michelle Aduro, the Country Director of the Aduro Foundation. A strategic thinker and passionate advocate for inclusive development, Michelle has been instrumental in scaling operations, forging critical partnerships, and ensuring that every initiative is rooted in empathy and community engagement. Her behind-the-scenes impact has amplified the reach and efficiency of the Foundation’s projects—making sure no community is left unseen, and no voice unheard.

Water for Life: Clean Water Through Solar Innovation

In many parts of Ondo State, clean water is a luxury. Women and children often walk miles just to collect contaminated water. Recognizing the direct link between clean water and public health, the Aduro Foundation launched its solar-powered borehole initiative in 2019, beginning with the Igbobi Community. This pioneering project combined renewable energy with sustainable water access—setting the stage for a broader movement across the state.

What began in Igbobi has now expanded across multiple communities:
• Igbo-Egunrin Village: The community’s first-ever solar borehole marked a historic moment—bringing consistent, year-round clean water for the very first time.

• Ilumeje, Mahin-Tedo, and Oloto Communities: Each received their own solar-powered boreholes, eliminating long treks for water and significantly improving school attendance and household productivity.

But the Foundation didn’t stop with civilian communities.

• Okitipupa Army Barracks: By installing a solar borehole, the Foundation directly impacted the health and morale of over 700 soldiers and their families—affirming that national defense begins with dignity at home.

• Navy Barracks, Igbokoda: Commissioned in May 2025, as the 11th project in the initiative, this installation now supplies over 30,000 litres of potable water daily, benefiting more than 3,000 naval officers, staff, and surrounding civilians.

Cumulative Reach: 7 communities and 2 military installations served; over 25,000 individuals now have access to clean, safe water.
Each project is more than a technical success—it’s a testament to sustainable empowerment, where community members are trained to maintain and manage their systems long after installation, ensuring lasting impact for generations to come.

Educating Tomorrow: Igniting the Power of Young Minds

Dr. Anthony believes education is not just a tool—it is liberation. To level the playing field for underserved communities, the Aduro Foundation has invested in groundbreaking educational infrastructure:

• Ultra-Modern Public Library (January 2024): Located in Ondo State’s central district, the library is a knowledge hub. With over 10,000 books, free internet, study rooms, and mentorship programs, it serves more than 4,000 students and young professionals monthly.

• State-of-the-Art Science Laboratory (January 2024): Built in partnership with local secondary schools, this STEM lab gives hands-on access to tools like microscopes and digital experiment kits, currently serving over 1,200 students across 3 public schools.

• Scholarship Program for Outstanding Students: A ₦5 million scholarship fund supports top 3 students from Community Grammar School, Igbo-Egunrin, who gain admission to OAUSTECH, empowering their pursuit of science and technology.

Through these initiatives, the Foundation plants the seeds of innovation—empowering the next generation to rise not in spite of their environment, but because of it.

Healing Communities: Preventive Healthcare for All

In April 2025, the Foundation hosted a Community Health Fair at the Okitipupa Local Government Secretariat Health Centre, embodying its philosophy that prevention is the best medicine.

Over 1,000 residents received:

• Free health screenings: Blood pressure, glucose, and vision tests flagged issues before they became crises.

• Health education sessions: Covering malaria prevention, maternal care, and child nutrition.

• Wellness packages: Delivered directly to pregnant women, elderly residents, and others in need.

The Foundation also rehabilitated the local government clinic, providing better access to medical care for over 10,000 residents across Okitipupa LGA.

By aligning with local health agencies and professionals, the Foundation doesn’t replace the healthcare system—it strengthens it, turning awareness into action and clinics into community allies.

Safety and Stability: Supporting Those Who Serve

Dr. Anthony holds a special reverence for Nigeria’s armed forces and police—those who secure the peace that makes all other development possible.

• Okitipupa Police Station Renovation (November 2023): The Foundation built a modern perimeter fence and installed hygienic facilities, providing over 60 officers and staff a functional and dignified workplace.

• Army Barracks Borehole (October 2024): (As noted earlier) Clean water for military families means healthier lives and better morale on the front lines.

These projects are bold reminders that security is not a luxury—it’s the bedrock of progress. And those who provide it must never be forgotten.

Digital Governance: Bringing Ondo State Into the 21st Century

Modern development requires modern tools. The Aduro Foundation provided the Okitipupa Local Government Secretariat with 15 Laptops, 5 printers, and high-speed internet—laying the foundation for smart governance.

Key impacts include:

• Digital record-keeping, replacing slow paper-based systems.

• Public service access: Citizens now submit applications and track permits online.

• Training workshops: More than 45 local staff are now trained in e-governance and cybersecurity.

Over 50,000 residents of Okitipupa LGA now benefit from faster, more transparent public services.

This project narrows the digital divide—ensuring that even remote communities can participate in Nigeria’s digital future.

Feeding Futures: Employment and Empowerment Through Aduro Farms

Recognizing that sustainable development must include economic opportunity, the Aduro Foundation—through Aduro Farms—is empowering communities with more than just support; it’s creating livelihoods.

Aduro Farms serves as both a food security initiative and a rural employment engine. With operations in strategic agricultural zones across Ondo State, the farm employs dozens of local workers, provides vocational training in modern farming techniques, and supports youth entrepreneurship in agribusiness.

• Local Job Creation: From farmhands to logistics personnel, the initiative directly employs residents—offering stable income in areas where opportunity is scarce.

• Youth Engagement: Young people receive hands-on training in sustainable agriculture, poultry management, and agritech—building a pipeline of skilled rural entrepreneurs.

• Food for Communities: The farm contributes to local food systems by distributing produce to nearby markets and feeding programs supported by the Foundation.

Aduro Farms is more than a farm—it’s a platform for self-reliance, showing that when people have the means to work, they also gain the dignity and confidence to lead their communities forward.

Recognitions and the Road Ahead

The work hasn’t gone unnoticed. In 2024, the Aduro Foundation was named “Foundation of the Year” by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, a tribute to its excellence in community transformation and public engagement.

But accolades are not the goal—impact is. What’s Next?

• 20 New Boreholes by 2030: Targeting an additional 50,000 people in 15 underserved communities along border areas.

• STEM Scholarships for Girls: Reaching 100 girls annually, closing gender gaps in tech and science.

Community-Led Development Training: Training 250 local leaders to sustain and replicate projects across all 18 LGAs of Ondo State.

A Movement, Not a Moment

Through every project, Dr. Aduro Anthony and the Aduro Foundation are building more than infrastructure—they’re building hope, dignity, and resilience. Each borehole, each computer, each renovated station is a brick in a larger vision: a Nigeria where no community is left behind, no child is forgotten, and no uniformed officer is underserved.

This is not philanthropy for the cameras. It is the reimagining of community development— from the inside out.
