The Senate has postponed its national security summit billed for next week.
This is to give its Ad-hoc Committee on Security Infrastructure more time to organise a better event.
Chairman of the committee and Senate Majority Leader, Ahmad Lawan who moved the motion at Thursday plenary, called for the extension of the summit, earlier billed for Wednesday and Thursday next week, by at least two weeks.
Citing Order 53(6) of the Senate Standing Orders 2015 (as amended), the lawmaker said a new date would be communicated as soon as possible.
Recall that on Wednesday, the upper legislative chamber had resolved to suspend plenary to hold a security summit to address the insecurity challenges in various parts of the country.
