Security of lives and properties is crucial to business environment, Muda Yusuf, director-general of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), has said.
Yusuf said this while announcing, in a statement, the chamber’s planned annual Security Meets Business Dialogue scheduled to take place on January 29 ( tomorrow).
He said the dialogue session creates a platform for stakeholders in the economy to deliberate the state of security in the country and its effect on the private sector.
The event usually brings together key security agencies and major players in the various sectors of the economy, especially the organised private sector. The dialogue session will also explore collaboration possibilities between the private sector and the security agencies, and will attract security chiefs, leaders of the private sector, as well as members of the diplomatic corps, he stated.
“The LCCI believes that through these engagements, the government and private sector can identify and address issues bothering on the security of lives and properties,’’ Yusuf said.
“Collaboration between the business community and the security agencies would enrich the strategies and effectiveness of current efforts at tackling the security challenges in the country. The use of technology in the security architecture will also form a major part of the deliberation at the dialogue.”
“This is the way out of the present security and prevailing social crises in Nigeria. There cannot be real economic growth without enduring peace, stability and security of lives and property.”
