Schneider Electric, the global leader in energy management and automation, has introduced its latest innovation for industrial motor management in West Africa: the TeSys Deca Advanced contactor in the 115A, 150A, and 200A range.
The launch, announced to the company’s channel partners across the region, is aimed at improving industrial resilience, efficiency, and sustainability in markets struggling with variable power supply and rising operational demands.
The TeSys Deca Advanced is designed with wide-band coil technology capable of handling voltage fluctuations between 24V to 500V AC/DC. This makes it particularly well-suited for environments across West Africa, where unstable power remains a persistent challenge. Compliant with the IEC 60947-4-1 standard, the solution supports motor categories AC3, AC3(e), and AC4 without derating at operating voltages of 380V or 480V, ensuring consistent performance under demanding conditions.
Beyond reliability, the new contactor also delivers efficiency gains. Schneider Electric says the TeSys Deca Advanced reduces main power dissipation by 10%, cuts coil inrush by 50%, narrows its physical width by 20%, and lowers CO₂ emissions, collectively driving down both energy consumption and operational costs.
Opeyemi Olaniyan, Offer Manager for Power Products at Schneider Electric West Africa, said the product reflects the region’s pressing need for robust, adaptable solutions.
“Whether it’s mining operations in Nigeria, food and beverage manufacturing in Ghana, or water treatment facilities across the region, industrial operators are under pressure to improve reliability while managing energy usage,” Olaniyan noted. “The TeSys Deca Advanced offers an intelligent and robust motor control solution that responds directly to those challenges.”
Built for Harsh Industrial Environments
The contactor is engineered for high-demand applications, including mining, water and wastewater management (WWW), HVAC systems, packaging lines, hoisting equipment, and elevators. Its three-layer ergonomic design improves installation and maintenance by making wiring more visible and accessible—a significant advantage in regions where skilled technical labor may be limited.
At the core of the design is Everlink, Schneider Electric’s patented power connection system that ensures secure, durable, and maintenance-free electrical connections. This innovation helps reduce the risk of loose wiring in high-vibration environments while cutting installation times by up to 75%.
The TeSys Deca Advanced also integrates one-click connection technology and direct PLC control capability, simplifying inventory management and reducing complexity in industrial operations by as much as 80%.
Digital-Ready for Predictive Maintenance
Perhaps the most transformative feature is the contactor’s digital readiness. Equipped with real-time diagnostics, the system enables predictive maintenance—allowing operators to anticipate issues before they cause unplanned downtime. By extending equipment lifespan and supporting smarter motor control, the TeSys Deca Advanced provides industries with a pathway to leaner, more connected, and sustainable operations.
“Schneider Electric’s focus in the region is to support our customers with solutions that are not only robust and reliable but also aligned with global sustainability goals,” Olaniyan said. “The TeSys Deca Advanced is another step forward in delivering that promise.”
As industries across West Africa grapple with unreliable power infrastructure and the urgent need for efficiency, Schneider Electric’s TeSys Deca Advanced positions itself as a critical enabler of industrial resilience in an increasingly digital and energy-conscious world.
