Farmers from Umuemu, Anam and Inoma communities in Anambra West Local Government Area of Anambra state have received some improved varieties of cassava stem and rice baddy to boost production.
The Commissioner for Agriculture Mechanisation Processing and Export, Afam Mbanefo made this known to newsmen in Awka on Tuesday.
He said the gesture was part of the promises by Governor Willie Obiano to supply agricultural inputs to boost agriculture in the state.
The commissioner enjoined the farmers to plant the content as they were expected to return 40 per cent of the output to the government so that more people would benefit.
The President-General of the Anam town, Prince Victor Okolo receiving the materials said it would be distributed to the farmers in 16 villages of the town.
He applauded the government for considering the community and assured that the materials would utilised the inputs maximally.
Responding, a beneficiary and also a rice farmer, Agu Henry said that such gestures was coming for the first time to the community and would definitely increase their output.
