Former president of Ghana, Jerry Rawlings, has died from complications of coronavirus.
The former president, according to reports, had been on admission at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for about a week for Covid-19 before he was reported dead on Thursday. He was aged 73.
Rawlings just buried his mother last month.
Born in Accra, Ghana on 22 June 1947 to a Ghanaian mother from Dzelukope, near Keta, in the Volta Region, and a Scottish father, Jerry John Rawlings was a military ruler who later joined politics. He ruled Ghana from 1981 to 2001.

He led a military junta until 1992, and then served two terms as the democratically elected president of Ghana.
