Nigeria’s table tennis icon Quadri Aruna powered into the quarter-finals of the ITTF Africa Cup Championship in Benghazi, Libya, after a commanding 4–0 victory over Libya’s Alajaebi Habeb in the men’s singles round of 16 on Sunday.
Aruna, Nigeria’s top-ranked player, dominated the contest from start to finish, winning in straight games 11-3, 11-4, 11-3, and 11-1 to underline his pedigree at the continental showpiece.

The win keeps the former ITTF world top-10 player firmly in contention for honours as the tournament enters its decisive phase.
Elsewhere, Algeria’s Stephanie Ouaiche edged Nigeria’s Olajide Omotayo 4–0 in another men’s singles round of 16 clash.
Ouaiche controlled the tempo throughout, sealing victory with game scores of 11-6, 11-2, 11-4 and 11-8 to book his place in the quarter-finals, despite Omotayo showing resilience, particularly in the fourth game.
In other round of 16 results, Egypt’s Omar Assar defeated Morocco’s Banchat Marius 4–0 (11-6, 11-2, 11-6, 11-6), while Tunisia’s Wassim Essid overcame Benin’s Salifou Abdel-Kader 4–2 to also advance.
