The Police Service Commission (PSC) has been thrown into mourning following the death of Parry Osayande, its former Chairman, barely a month after the passing of Solomon Arase, another ex-chairman.
In a statement issued on Sunday, September 28, 2025, by Ikechukwu Ani, its head of Press and Public Relations, the commission described Osayande as an erudite and consummate officer whose career and leadership left an indelible mark on the Nigerian Police Force and the Commission.
Appointed in April 2008 by then-President Goodluck Jonathan, Osayande succeeded Simon Okeke, the pioneer Chairman of the PSC.
It noted that his tenure witnessed significant milestones, including presidential approval for the construction of the Commission’s corporate headquarters, now standing in the Jabi District of Abuja.
The PSC noted that Osayande’s fearless leadership, focus, and commanding presence gave the Commission stability and visibility during its formative years.
Reacting to the news, Hashimu Argungu, current Chairman of the Commission, described Osayande’s death as a monumental loss.
He urged Nigerians to remember the PSC in prayers as it grapples with the painful reality of losing two of its former leaders in quick succession.
“DIG Osayande was a visionary who paid his dues as an exemplary officer and left a legacy of discipline and growth in the Commission,” Argungu said.
Osayande reportedly passed away in the early hours of Sunday in Benin City, Edo State.
