As part as of its effort to provide solution to protect important data and information of financial organisation, government and businesses from incidence of cyber attack, Proxynet Communications Limited has committed over 80,000 US dollars in partnership with Fire Eye, a US based web malware protection system company to safe guard data of corporate organisations against the upsurge of cyber attacks.
Kay Kafity, Fire Eye incorporated regional sales director, Middle East, Turkey and Africa at a press conference in Lagos recently said the partnership was important because the Fire Eye solution will address key component in most company’s process about security as it relates to securing their data and network from cyber attack that are increasingly happening in the internet in the past few years. Kafity said the need for the solution has increase as a result of the upsurge in activities of hackers on the cyber space who take advantage of the fact that a lot of people are connected to exploit the vast networks already in places like government, banks, oil and gas, in military establishment with the sole purpose of stealing data.
According to him, “There are now people who are able to provide tools and mechanism to be able to shut down the vital facilities of a country, company without having to build any structure in that country”
“This provides a great paramount security concern for major government across the world in African and sub Saharan African; every country is trying to protect their assets from these types of attack”.
The regional sales manager pointed out that Fire Eye Malware protection System is a product that focuses on real-time interpretation of the specific intent of potentially malicious code, versus the rigid signature-based and difficult to administer heuristics approaches than any other cyber solution can offer.
On his part, Ozo-Onyali Ifeanyi Edward, managing director, Proxynet Communications Limited said the ideas behind the partnership is to grow the Fire Eye solution to Businesses in West African Region through the provision of sales support and technical support for the customers.
“We are investing technically, we are investing on the sale side and we are ensuring that we have a wide spread that cuts across financial services sector, oil and gas, manufacturing and other industries across West Africa”
“What we are giving to Fire Eye is that we want to ensure that the company leverage on our existing infrastructure in term of the companies we are working with from the telco space, financial service space, government sector manufacturing”. He said.
On the choice of Fire Eye for partnership, Edward pointed out that Fire Eye is at present globally the only company that provides the Next-Generation Web Security to Combat Advance Targeted Attack, adding that the solution is targeted at corporate organisations, government, small and medium scale enterprise that had an email server, internal access.
“It will make more business sense to target companies whose business are mission are critical. Fire Eye has full range of appliance for web and for email that can target every customer at their various level and in Nigeria we are hoping to target the switching companies like inter switch because they are very key” he said.
