Bola Tinubu, former Lagos state governor is inching to cling presidential ticket of the All Progressives (APC) for the 2023 general election.
This is as Godswill Akpabio, former minister of Niger Delta state Affairs and a presidential aspirant on the platform of APC has stepped down for Tinubu, former Lagos state governor who is also aspiring for ticket.
Similarly, Ibikunle Amosun, former governor of Ogun state who is also aspiring for the APC presidential ticket stepped down Tinubu.
Also, Kayode Fayemi, Governor of Ekiti state and Demiji Bankole, former speaker of the House of
Representatives withdrew from the race for the former Lagos state governor.
Mohammed Abubakar-Badaru, governor of Jigawa state who earlier withdrew from the race formally stepped down for Tinubu just as Ajayi Borofice, deputy senate leader.

Akpabio, Amosun, Fayemi, Bankole withdrew their ambition while addressing delegates at the ongoing special convention of the party in Abuja.
The former governor of Akwa-Ibom state urged the 93 delegates from his states and others accross the country to vote for Tinubu.
Akpabio said he has all it takes to be the president of Nigeria but the former Lagos governor has acquired more experience and shown leadership prowess to lead Nigeria at the moment.
He promised to join Tinubu to work for the progress, unity and development of Nigeria as a country with a viral economy and respect amongst the comity of Nigeria.
On his part, Amosun said despite possessing all the qualities to be president but to support power shift to the South, he dropped his ambition for Tinubu.
Kayode, Bankole, Badaru and Borofice said their decision was to ensure power shift to the south for fairness and equity.
