Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has berated the President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s handling of the ongoing wanton killings of innocent Nigerians across the country, which he said “have reached epidemic level”

Atiku, writing on his X handle, formerly Twitter, lamented the deaths resulting from Tuesday’s terror attack at a mosque in Gidan Mantau, a community in Malumfashi local government area in Katsina state.

Reports indicate that over 50 dead bodies have been recovered from the attack on innocent worshippers massacred inside a mosque by marauding bandits during morning prayers.

According to Atiku Abubakar, “This attack was not just against a community; it was an assault on our collective humanity.

“These killings are no longer isolated incidents; they have become a daily reality in the North and across the nation.

Atiku noted that “Villages are being sacked, highways are unsafe, and even sacred places of worship are not spared.

“Yet, the current government continues to operate as if nothing is wrong, remaining detached from the anguish of ordinary Nigerians.

” The government is aloof and in denial of the worsening security situation.

He called on the Tinubu government to step up

It is about high time that the protection of the lives and properties of the average citizen became a primary responsibility of the government.
