The Nigeria Police Force has invited Tammy Danagogo, former Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG), to Abuja for questioning over an alleged plot to assassinate Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Danagogo was summoned by the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Force Intelligence Department following what security sources described as the interception of a leaked phone conversation linked to the alleged plot.

A letter dated January 9, issued by the Office of the Commissioner of Police, IRT, directed Danagogo to appear in person at the IRT complex in the Guzape District of Abuja on Thursday at 10 a.m. in connection with an ongoing investigation.
“This office is inviting you over an ongoing investigation, to appear in person to shed light on some information,” the letter stated.
Multiple security sources confirmed that the invitation was connected to intelligence reports suggesting that a plot was being hatched against Wike, who served as Rivers State governor before his appointment as FCT minister.
According to the sources, the police action followed the arrest of Gbeneol, the founder of Life Forte Chapel Church in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Gbeneol was allegedly picked up after security operatives intercepted a phone conversation believed to be between him and Danagogo.
The recorded call, it was alleged, contained discussions on plans to engage foreign nationals, reportedly Israelis, to execute the assassination of the FCT minister.
“The content of the call was considered a grave national security threat. Once the intelligence was confirmed, the IRT was immediately activated to neutralise the threat and unravel all those connected to it”, a senior security source said.
The source added that the matter was being treated with the highest level of urgency due to the profile of the intended target and the international dimension allegedly introduced into the plot.
As of the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Police Force has not released an official statement concerning the matter.
