…recover Biafran flags, arms
Aboki Danjuma, Imo State Commissioner of Police, says the operatives of the Imo State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has raided criminal hideouts belonging to the proscribed IPOB/ESN Commanders at Ubaa, Umuaka in Njaba Local Government Area of the State, dislodging the criminals within the hideouts.
Danjuma noted that the dislodgement of the criminal commanders was based on credible intelligence and confessional statements from Uchenna Opara and Ozioma Ihedoro earlier arrested by the men of Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
According to the CP, the alleged criminals on sighting the security operatives, opened fire, but were overpowered by the superior firepower of the security agents, forcing them into the adjoining bushes with gunshot injuries.
He stated that a thorough search at their camps led to the recovery of two Biafran flags, one POS machine, one AK-47 rifle with three magazines, forty rounds of live AK-47 ammunition, sixty rounds of live GPMG ammunition, two pump-action guns, and five hundred and eighty-two live cartridges.
The Police Commissioner further said that some of the alleged criminals with gunshot wounds fled from the area, adding that investigations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
While assuring the Imo people of the Police Command’s commitment to safety, he urged all residents to be law-abiding and use the emergency line, 0803 477 3600 for timely reports, calling on the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons with gunshot injuries to the nearest Police station.
