Police operatives attached to Assakio Division, in collaboration with local vigilantes, have stormed kidnappers’ hideouts in Angara and Fadaman Bauna villages of Lafia East Development Area, Nasarawa State, arresting six suspected kidnappers and rescuing three victims.
The victims—two females and one male—were rescued unhurt, promptly treated, and reunited with their families following the operation carried out in the forested areas of the affected communities.

The operation followed a complaint received on January 7, 2026, that suspected kidnappers invaded Angara village, abducted two females and left behind an infant, before later kidnapping a male resident in the same area.
In a statement by Shetima Jauro Mohammed, Commissioner of Police Nasarawa State Command, through
Ramhan Nansel, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) made available to journalists on Friday in Lafia, said the Command acted swiftly after receiving the report to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and the arrest of those responsible.
“Immediately the report was made available, I directed our operatives to go after the perpetrators without delay,” the statement said.
According the statement, “The coordinated effort between our officers and local vigilantes led to the discovery of the kidnappers’ hideouts in Angara and Fadaman Bauna forests, where the suspects were arrested and the victims rescued alive”.
It said the arrested suspects have confessed to the crime and have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution on the directive of the Commissioner of Police.
The statement noted that the Command remains committed to sustaining pressure on criminal elements, adding that the police will continue to work with communities to ensure peace and security across Nasarawa State.
