The Plateau State Police Command has announced the arrest of 15 suspected criminals who allegedly disguised themselves as commercial motorcyclists to carry out unlawful activities across the state.
The development marks a major stride in ongoing efforts to curb rising insecurity in the state.

According to a statement by Alfred Alabo, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, made available journalists in Jos on Wednesday, said the arrests followed credible intelligence indicating an influx of suspicious individuals believed to be part of a notorious criminal network operating under the guise of regular motorcyclists.
“These individuals concealed their identities with masks while carrying out their operations.
“Our operatives conducted coordinated raids across multiple locations, successfully apprehending the suspects who matched the description of gang members infiltrating the commercial motorcycle transport system”.
Alabo added that the crackdown is still ongoing, with more arrests expected.
He said arrested suspects are currently being held in police custody and are undergoing interrogation. The spokesperson assured that once investigations are concluded, the individuals will be charged to court to face the full weight of the law.
The development comes amid the Plateau State government’s recent total ban on the operation of commercial motorcyclists as part of wider security measures.
BusinessDay however, observed that despite the ban, some individuals continued to flout the directive, endangering residents.
