The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has tasked President Muhammadu Buhari to order an investigation into the allegations levelled against an All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu by Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.
The party believes the allegations are too weighty to be ignored.
The main opposition party was reacting Ambode’s press conference on Sunday, where he revealed that his main challenger was once arrested for spending fake dollars at a nightclub in the United States of America.
Although the Lagos State Governor, who has fallen out with his estranged political godfather, Bola Tinubu, never mentioned any name, speculations are rife that he was referring to his main challenger for the Lagos top job.

Reacting to the development in a press statement on Sunday, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, argued that Ambode statement has confirmed APC as party of ‘fraudsters and riggers’.
The statement reads: “By this, the whole world can see that the APC is nothing but a den of fraudsters and corrupt persons who not only cheated their way to power through lies and propaganda in 2015 but have also continued to bleed and defraud our nation with humongous sleazes and massive corruption in very high places.
“That is why the APC will have no scruples to project persons of questionable character and those with allegations of corruption hanging
on the necks as their National Chairman and governorship aspirants.
“We challenge President Muhammadu Buhari to show his claimed integrity by ordering an open investigation into this huge allegation against his party’s governorship aspirant.
“Finally, the PDP calls on Lagosians and indeed all Nigerians to note this ugly trend in the APC and ensure that they throw this undesirable party to the dustbin of history, come 2019”.
