Nigerian featherweight star Patrick ‘Starboi’ Ocheme is set to headline the first-ever PFL Africa semifinals, bringing Nigeria one step closer to crowning its first mixed martial arts (MMA) champion.
The event, which will determine the finalists for the inaugural PFL Africa Tournament, is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 18, at the BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda.
The event follows two groundbreaking cards in Cape Town and Johannesburg and will feature semifinal bouts across four divisions: heavyweight, welterweight, featherweight, and bantamweight.
At the top of the card, Nigeria’s Ocheme will face Burkina Faso’s Abdoul Razac Sankara in a highly anticipated featherweight semifinal main event.
Ocheme booked his spot in the last four with a dominant decision victory over Guinea’s Mohamed Camara in Johannesburg.
Meanwhile, Sankara lit up the quarterfinals with a spectacular head-kick knockout of Shadrick Dju Yemba, earning “Knockout of the Night.”
The matchup sets up a compelling clash of styles: Ocheme’s calculated composure and technical sharpness against Sankara’s raw knockout power.
With a place in the 145-pound finals on the line, Ocheme has the chance to make history by becoming the first Nigerian fighter to reach a PFL Africa championship bout.
This is Ocheme’s opportunity to not only make Nigeria proud but also to showcase the depth of African talent on the global MMA stage.
Winners of the semifinal bouts will advance to the PFL Africa Finals in Benin, where the league will crown inaugural African champions across all four weight divisions by year’s end.
