Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has declared that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun will secure a landslide victory in the 2026 gubernatorial election.
Adeleke, who is seeking a second-term ticket on the platform of the PDP, said the party remains strong and united in the state, positioning it perfectly to defeat all opponents.
The governor disclosed this when he appeared before the PDP gubernatorial screening committee in Abuja ahead of the 2026 election.
He said, “First of all, we don’t have any internal wranglings in Osun State. When you look around, I can tell you that the PDP in Osun, we are number one; we are one family; everything is going on well. So, there’s no internal wranglings in PDP.
“We are in the technology era. You can just Google it and check it out, you will know that we are doing very well in Osun.”
“I am so confident I’m going to win. If I can defeat an incumbent, and now that I’m the governor, within two years, it’s unprecedented what we have achieved in less than two years. I’m so confident that nobody can beat us there.”
Governor Adeleke declared that he is not scared of the All Progressive Congress (APC) plans to intimidate opposition, using federal might.
“How can I be scared? I’m too popular! Anywhere I go, don’t you love me? I love you! Hey, everybody say Imole! Imole! What are you talking about? Anywhere I go, throughout this country, even in the APC, I have some friends in the APC and in other parties. Just take APC as a case study: anytime they’re having a party or an event, I’ll go there, I’ll take over, they all love me.
“So, I mean, you see, if you’re not performing, that’s when you’ll be scared. When you have your people behind you, you don’t have to fear.
“During my first term, I mean, the federal might was there — I saw the equipment, I saw the resources. But now, that same federal might — I don’t think the President will want to do something that will mess the administration up, you know, because my election is going to be the election before the presidential election.
“So, I’m sure everything will be free and fair, and that is what we are talking about,” he added.
Adebayo Adepoju, chairman, Osun State PDP Gubernatorial Screening Committee, in his remarks, expressed confidence in the screening exercise.
“Well, it was a pretty good process. We had gone through all his credentials to ascertain that everything was in order.

“We had done that even before he arrived, he had submitted his documents on time. We went through his forms, his nomination forms, and we also noticed that he was nominated by very highly placed people as well as ordinary people in the Osun community.
“This just shows that he is very well accepted all around the party. We went through other credentials besides academic ones that he had submitted, and everything was very, very satisfactory to us. We are pleased with what we have seen.
“And when he came in, we asked him a few questions, and all his answers matched what he had submitted. So, we are very happy about what he has been able to do so far in the State of Osun. At the end of the day, he passed the screening.
“As you know, the PDP is a party that follows due process. So now, after passing this stage, I think he will move to the next one where he will proceed further,” he said.
