The national chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) Adams Oshiomhole has failed to deliver Edo State to President Muhammadu Buhari in the last Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections.
The All Progressives Congress lost the presidential election by 7,849 votes to the People’s Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Atiku polled a total of 275,691 votes against Buhari who scored 267,842 votes.
However, Buhari defeated Atiku in 10 local government areas while Atiku won in eight councils.
Ndowa Lale, vice-chancellor, University of Port Harcourt, who is the state collation officer for the presidential election, announced the results at the Edo state office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Lale said the total number of registered voters in the state was 2,150,127 while the total number of accredited voters was 604,915.
He put the number of valid votes to 560,711 while 38,517 votes were rejected or voided.
He also explained that 599,228 votes were total number of votes cast in the elections.
The eight local governments won by the PDP presidential candidate are Esan North East, Ovia North East, Egor, Oredo, Esan South East, Esan West, Esan Central and Ipoba-Okha.
The 10 local governments won by President Buhari include Etsako West, Akoko-Edo, Igueben, Ovia South-West, Etsako East, Owan East, Owan West, Esako Central, Uhumwonde and Orhionwon Local Government Areas.
