Oronsaye gets permission to travel for medicals
Justice Gabriel Kolawole of an Abuja Federal High Court has granted former Head of Service (HOS), Stephen Oronsaye permission to travel abroad for medical treatment.
The former HOS is standing trial over an amended 35-count charge of money laundering and fraud, alongside Osarenkhoe Afe, Global Services Limited, Cluster Logistics Limited, Kangolo Dynamic Cleaning Limited and Drre Investment and Construction Company Limited.
John Ochogwu, counsel representing Oronsaye informed the court at the resumption of trial, about the application seeking permission for Oransaye to travel abroad for medical treatment, urging the court to release his international passport to enable him secure visa to travel abroad for medical treatment and come back before the next adjourned date April 25, for his trial.
Leke Atolagbe, prosecuting counsel did not oppose the application, but he expressed his surprise to why Afe and his counsel were absent in court.
The judge, Justice Kolawole, in a short ruling granted Oransaye the permission to travel saying it was predicted in Ochogwu’s plea that the defendant will be in court in the next adjourned date.
Responding to the prosecution’s surprise on the absence of the Afe (2nd defendant) and his counsel, the judge said they have always been in court for the case which can be justified.
Justice Kolawole, adjourned the case until April 25, 2017 for continuation of trial.
