INEC added that various stakeholders in the election were also getting prepared to play their roles for the smooth conduct of the election.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC in Ondo State, Olusegun Agbaje, gave the update while briefing reporters at the headquarters of the Commission in Akure, the state’s capital in southwest Nigeria.
Mr Agbaje noted the Continuous Voter Registration Exercise had been concluded and that INEC was ready to receive new electoral materials, as all the Registration Area Centres have been made ready.
He added that the campaigns for the election by various political parties had kicked off and open politicking was gathering momentum.
The Commissioner appealed to all political stakeholders to avoid verbal wars and inflammatory comments capable of igniting political tension and rancour that could threaten the peace of the state.
On the crisis in the state’s Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress, he said the national headquarters of the parties would send the names of their candidates to the INEC headquarters in Abuja 30 days before the election.
