Wondering where to cool off this weekend after the fuel hike crisis? Then the cinema will be a nice place to be and relax away from the worries and ease of the stress. Today being Children’s Day, you can enjoy this cool movie with family and friends. The Barbershop – Next cut is an interesting comedy movie to watch.

I recently went to the cinema to check out what was showing and the lady selling the ticket recommended this movie, although I do get sceptical about movies being recommended, when I didn’t hear so much about the movie before it was lunched, I was willing to part with my money to watch something different and relaxing from all the action packed movies available. After all, we always heard that variety is the spice of life. Well I must say that it was ok, not our all out typical kind of Nigerian movie, as you will have to listen properly to hear everything that they said, the movie was also very fast. It was basically about a group of guys and ladies who work in a shop fixing the hairdo of men and women. There jobs were to make you look pretty and handsome before you left their shop. At the beginning the movie was slow, but later it became more interesting.

The movie was filled with popular stars and artist and the choice of the actors and actresses were very good. I felt the blend was cool and seeing Nicki Minaj in action, that was really nice. There were acts like Ice cube, Regina Hall, Anthony Anderson, Eve, JB Smoove, Lamorne Morris, Sean Patrick Thomas, Tyga, and Deon Cole. The movie was fun and the story line was unique. It is about what happens in the salon, it looks like everyone had something to say about everything. The action was saved for the later part of the movie so if you don’t have time to be patient you will miss out in the story line.

The movie started on a slow pace but somewhere in the middle, the staff of Calvin’s Barbers shop had to make a concrete decision to save their neighborhood. The neighborhood was full of black kids who went about killing kids of the rivalry gangs. The killing was rampant and the government had to intervene, they had decided that they were going to dissolve the area so the parents and staff of Calvin’s Barbershop had to come together to agree on a strategy to save their neighborhood. They agreed to give out free hairdo for 48 hours to see if they could hold down the gun shots in the area for 48 hours. Although they were challenges as there will always be in life, they were able to succeed and pass a message out; they also saved the neighborhood and received recommendations from the government for their brave acts. The story line was okay for me, it is obvious that we as individuals have to always complain less and reason together on ways to change things positively rather than complaining. Let us act and make that changes we want to see.

Well I will say that the main action was saved for the last scene when the President of United States heard about what they did and had to come for a haircut. The end was hilarious and exciting.
