The output of the four domestic refineries fell by 75 percent in No¬vember 2013 as shown by Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in its Monthly Petroleum Information (MPI).
A total of 84,732 metric tonnes of different petroleum products was produced by the four local refiner¬ies in November 2013 as against 359,524 metric tonnes produced in October 2013. When compared with the refineries production of 555,278 metric tonnes of 2012, refineries production fell by 85 percent.
The shortfall in production of the four local refineries comes from Kaduna Refining Petrochemical Company (KRPC), Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) and Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company (WRPC) production dur¬ing the month under review.
Both KRPC and PHRC refiner¬ies output fell by 44 and 21 percent respectively between the month of October and November 2013.
For KRPC, it produced a total of 81,858 metric tonnes of dif¬ferent petroleum products in the month of November 2013, this declined by 63,419 metric tonnes or 44 percent when compared to its total production of 145,277 metric tonnes in October 2013. While PHRC production fell by 21 percent to 7,164 metric tonnes in November 2013 from 9,027 metric tonnes in October 2013. Only Petrol Motor Spirit (PMS) was produced by WRPC in the month of November 2013. It pro¬duced 32,188 metric tonnes of PMS out of which 48 percent or 15,698 was imported. However, out of the 84,732 metric tonnes of different petroleum prod¬ucts produced by the four domestic refineries in the month under review, KRPC accounted for 97 percent of the total products while the remain¬ing 3 percent comes from PHRC. WRPC had a negative production during the month under review.
On products template, PMS accounted for 58 percent of the total products produced by the four domestic refineries. Next in mag¬nitude to PMS is Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) also known as Diesel accounted for 40 percent of total pro¬duced by the four refineries. While the remaining products responsible for the 2 percent of the total products produced by the domestic refineries in month of November 2013
