About 76 Nigerian students and 61 home widows have benefited from a humanitarian gesture of Nigerian student in diaspora who donated cash of various amounts and bags of foodstuffs to cushion the effect of economic crunch on them.
Changkon Haruna Zamani, who is undergoing doctoral studies at Morgan State University, Maryland in the United States of America (USA), finds it conveniently desirable to extend the gesture to his brothers and sisters at home who are experiencing economic hardship.
The distribution of the food items and the cash was held at Kwablang Lusa where seventy-six students across various tertiary instructions in the country and widows from Bauchi State, particularly Lusa community, Bogoro local government area of the state benefitted.
The Chairman, committee on the distribution of the cash and food items, Sunday Peter explained that some beneficiaries received various amounts ranging between N10,000, 20,000, 40,000, 50,000, and various bags of corn to their admiration.
Institutions of the student beneficiaries comprised Abubakar Tafawa-Balawa University (ATBU), Bauchi; University of Jos, Bauchi State Sa’adu Zungur State University (SAZU), Bauchi; and Federal University, Kashere in Gombe State.

Other students from Aminu Sale College of Education, Azare; Adamu Tafawa-Baleawa College of Education, Kangere; College of Nursing & Midwifery, Ningi; and College of Education, Gindiri in Plateau State, Tatari Ali Polytechnic, Bauchi, among others.
Peter explained that while the beneficiaries of the food items are all women, particularly widows, the Nigerian in diaspora picked interest in gifting the foodstuffs to women in order to help them cushion their hardships.
He expressed confidence that the gesture would assist the students in reducing the educational burden on their parents, especially in helping them settle their school fees and accommodation, while focusing on their studies.
The distribution committee chairman recalled that this is not the first time that Chongkon Haruna Zamani has been extended a similar gesture, as he had last year paid for JAMB registration to ten other students who gained admission to serious institutions of learning in the country.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Hakuri Yohanna and Justina Yakubu expressed their appreciation to Chongkon Haruna Zamani for providing them with foodstuffs and cash, particularly at this critical month of August.
The beneficiaries prayed for him for God’s guidance, wisdom, protection and more years ahead.
