…as Nigeria moves to reduce import dependency, deepen industrial productivity
In a bold move to shape the future in industrial growth and economic stability, Nigeria and Turkiye are exploring pathways in economic diversification and collaborative manufacturing.
This move came to the fore at the just-concluded Türkiye–Nigeria Business & Investment Summit 2025 held in Istanbul, marking a significant milestone in advancing industrial and investment collaboration between the two nations.
The high-level economic forum brought together government officials, business leaders, investors, and policy experts to explore strategies aimed at reducing Nigeria’s import dependency and strengthening industrial productivity.

The summit focused on the theme: “The Role of Manufacturing in Reducing Import Dependency in Nigeria: A Strategic Approach to Industrial Growth and Economic Stability.”
The discussion aligns with ongoing national research efforts on enhancing Nigeria’s local production capacity and promoting industrial sustainability, a subject formally highlighted through diplomatic channels in a request to the Republic of Türkiye for cooperation and knowledge exchange.
Hosted by Daniel Deji Ayodele, Founder/Executive Director of the Mindshift Empowerment & Employment Initiative (MEEI Program), the summit created an opportunity for direct engagement between Nigerian policymakers and leading Turkish industrial stakeholders. Delegates from Nigeria’s Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) attended in strong representation, signalling the government’s commitment to fostering actionable bilateral partnerships.
Speaking at the event, distinguished keynote contributors emphasised the importance of technology transfer, cost-efficient manufacturing, and joint sectoral investments. Turkish industry experts highlighted opportunities in agro-processing, textiles, pharmaceuticals, transportation, and infrastructure development—sectors where both nations can benefit from shared expertise and investment growth.

Ayodele, in his address, reaffirmed MEEI’s mission to bridge international markets, facilitate trade missions, and promote sustainable industrial collaborations that directly empower entrepreneurs, create jobs, and strengthen local economies.
He noted that this summit marks only the beginning of a long-term engagement strategy aimed at fostering mutually beneficial development initiatives.
The event concluded with a recognition ceremony honouring key contributors, followed by business matchmaking sessions and partnership discussions between Nigerian delegates and Turkish manufacturing groups.
Conversations from the summit are expected to translate into actionable agreements, trade visits, and collaborative industrial projects in the coming months.
