Former national chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the party’s candidate in the yet to be concluded Anambra Central Senatorial election, Chief Victor Umeh has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to fix date of the senatorial election without delay.
Umeh said if INEC had conducted the re-run election with dispatch, after the court of Appeal gave its ruling on December 7, 2015 enemies of Anambra Central Senatorial district who aborted the election five days to the fixed date would not have succeeded.
Umeh said, INEC can conduct the election within seven days.
He recalled that at the last aborted date, INEC had printed ballot papers for the election.
He lamented that the Central Senatorial district had lost two and half years so there is nothing to wait for. ‘INEC should conduct the election without further delay”, he said.
“We are waiting for INEC to announce date without delay because if INEC had conducted the election on time when the court of Appeal made that order, it is possible that the election would have been concluded before the enemy struck,” he said.
“Court of Appeal gave the order on December 7, 2015 before the enemies of central senatorial zone went for another court order five days to the election.
“They can conduct the election within seven days,” he concluded
