All is now set for the grand reception of Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State by the Ibibio nation scheduled to take place on Monday, July 10, 2017.
According to the commissioner for information and strategy, Charles Udoh, the reception for the governor is as a result of the numerous achievements that he has recorded as an illustrious son of the Ibibio nation and governor of Akwa Ibom State.
“Before his foray into public service, first as secretary to the state government, Emmanuel was one of the definitional figures in Nigeria’s financial sector where at Zenith Bank, he was the executive director with direct supervision for corporate strategy and planning, corporate financial advisory services and control, business development international investors’ relations, oil and gas, infrastructure and power sector, multilaterals, conglomerates and private banking as well as telecommunications sector. He successfully executed these tasks bringing to bear his training and experience in corporate governance.
“As governor of Akwa Ibom State from May 2015, Emmanuel has discharged his duties meritoriously. Despite the prevailing economic challenges in the country, he has diligently pursued and delivered on his promises to the people based on his five-point agenda of job creation, poverty alleviation, wealth creation and infrastructure consolidation and expansion.”
He said the governor has brought his wealth of experience to bear in keeping the state’s economy in good shape with tangible achievements in the agricultural, industrial and other critical sectors.
The commissioner pointed out that the strides recorded by the state government have been corroborated by the recent report by the National Bureau of Statistics as second in Nigeria in terms of Foreign Direct Investment for the year 2016.
It is for these exceptional personal career attainments and superlative achievements as governor that the Ibibio Nation will roll out drums in celebration of their illustrious son, Governor Udom Emmanuel, who has brought great pride to them. The governor is to be received alongside his wife, Martha. Emmanuel graduated from the University of Lagos with a 2nd class upper degree in Accounting and also holds a master degree in corporate governance from Leeds Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom and this makes him one of the few experts in that critical aspect of the corporate world.
