The management of Dufil Prima Food Plc, maker of Idomie noodles, has expressed its readiness to partner with the Edo State Government for the successful implementation of Home Grown Feeding programme in the state.
Efosa Cliff-Ogiugo, food consultant to the company, made the disclosure during a courtesy visit to the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki in Government House in Benin-City.
Ogiugo said the visit was to officially introduce the company’s product and develop a partnership on the use of the product for the programme.
He noted that the company was already into partnership with the Federal Government on the programme and wanted to engage as many states as possible.
He added that the company also intends to introduce programmes to upgrade school infrastructure.
He disclosed that the company would extend the gesture to disabled children and ensure that the N10m proposed for the feeding programme would span nine months.
In his remarks, Obaseki said the state may collaborate with the private food processing firm to domesticate and implement the Federal Government’s Home Grown School Feeding Programme.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Taiwo Akerele, the governor added that the state government would draw out a plan in line with the state’s procurement law on engaging service providers to bid for the Home Grown School Feeding Programme.
“We are going to come up with a proposal. We have the state procurement law and we will open up the procurement process for invitation to everybody who is into this line and see that the best in terms of production and output is chosen,” he said.
